That is one of the few ways of getting to Mt. Pamitinan. As for me and my friend, we had a private drive.

I have been planning to climb for weeks since 2016 had started. Either my invites will join me or not, I know that I will climb that day. It was my plan after all. They back outed from the plan, night before the climb. I was determined to go for a solo hike thinking that it would be an adventure.

While I’m on my way to Cubao, I received several calls from a friend who knew where I am going. He wants to join me. Thank goodness for that! I waited for him until past ten in the morning. We drove and arrived at the Barangay Wawa around 11.30 AM (not a good time for a trek). We registered and asked for a guide. Hello Kuya Bunso or Kuya Ernesto Zata for that.

It was my friend’s (let’s call him G) first climb. And me, having quite a so-called-mountaineer myself, have had to guide him as well, with Kuya Bunso’s help. Before trekking, I ensure that we have the following:

  • Gloves (I know how hard it is for rocky mountains to climb without these things)
  • Water
  • Food
  • Bag and Things (change of clothes, face towel, etc.)
  • Mobile Phones

It took us for about 3 to 4 hours to finish Mt.Pamitinan. It was G’s first climbed so I didn’t force him to walk faster. Besides, I’m more of a chill climber than a fast one, in short I walk slow as well. But I did force him to finish what we have started. I wanted him to enjoy the moment, to enjoy the mountain, to enjoy how it feels to be up there.

Here is a sample video of our unexpected joined adventure:
